It's been a good move

Posted by Jon UK - Australia on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 In : Australia
Story I uprooted the family in late 2008 and moved them to South Australia after accepting a job. My new employer paid for our move and supported us in the first few months until we found a house to rent. The move wasn't without stress as one of our children hated us for most of the first 6 months here as we'd taken her away from her friends and ruined her life. She now loves it her, especially all the opportunities that are out there for her when she finishes school and university...

Best Move of My Life

Posted by Robert Scotland - Australia on Saturday, January 28, 2012 In : Australia
I left home at 20 years old and migrated to Australia on the 10 pound scheme. I arrived in Adelaide in April 1970 and have never regretted my move. At this time work was plentiful and I moved from job to job easily. I was a store-man, a painter, a driver and a records clerk before I ended up in the Australian Taxation Office where I stayed for 7 years. During this time I enjoyed the beach life, holidaying in South Australia and especially the lay back party lifestyle. I also met my wife...

Get a job first

Posted by Diane UK - Barcelona on Saturday, December 31, 2011 In : Spain
I moved to Spain from Liverpool in August 2011 and have found the move very easy because I had a job to go to. I have heard many horror stories of people selling everything to move to Spain assuming there will be plenty of opportunities when they arrive but most of the time this does not work out as planned. If you move to Spain with a job then they will help you with all the paperwork and you can find accommodation easier if you have an employment contract and then you can just get on with e...

Teaching English in China

Posted by Steve UK - China on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 In : China

I have been teaching English in China for the past few years we had a good quality of life and I would recommend it to anybody. However when things go wrong you realise just how far you are away from how. These are two of the horror stories I have heard.

Horror Story #1: “Illegal Immigrants”
Two teachers signed contracts with an agency working with a primary school in Northeast China, part of the contract stipulating that the teachers were to come to China on tourist visas an...
