I have wanted to move abroad since I stayed in Tennessee for six months during university. After not particularly enjoying my job in the UK I decided to take the leap and applied to some agencies specialising in teaching jobs abroad. I got the job in April 2010. I knew that I needed to feel secure and also make sure that the school was where I wanted to be.  I booked a flight over in May with the intention of visiting the school and finding out as much as possible about the area I would be living. By the end of that two day trip I had a flat to rent and I was sure it was the school I wanted to teach at. The best thing I did was visit so early on because, by the time I moved in, I had already negotiated several things with the landlord such as a digital TV box and wireless internet and landline. I also had peace of mind and was able to concentrate on sorting everything out in the UK.
